Captain Dangerous play an infectious mix of quirky-pop anthems together with a
maelstrom of indie-rock sincerity, laconic poetry and spine tingling frailty. Think Pavement at their most pop, and Darren Hayman at his most fragile with elements of Silver mt Zion thrown in for good measure and you’ll be somewhere close. The Nottingham 5 Piece are a dishevelled, roguish and instantly likeable motley crue with brilliant songs and a downright incredible live show that often swells to a 12 piece to accommodate viola, trombone and cello, bringing an orchestral swoon.
Following their signing to I’m not from London records this year their debut single on the label “Forgive us We’re British/Everything Beautiful Reminds me of you” was released to huge critical acclaim on July 1st 2011 and has already featured on TV shows Greys Anatomy, Hollyoaks, and Fresh Meat. The single was championed by Mark Beaumont in Music Week and was launched at a sold out homecoming show at the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham where the band swelled to a 13 piece playing to an ecstatic crowd. The band release new album “The Empire Never Ended” on June 4th this year and will tour the UK throughout June.
“Brit Pomp anyone?…Captain Dangerous capture a proud strain of Britishness from blasts of war-time brass belligerence to the melodic clout of 21st Century alt.pop. Onstage they cut a smart, besuited figure and on record they exude a suitable intelligence… Dangerous? Let’s hope so”
