Formed in 1979 and once described as ‘conspiring to make dancing the only way to walk’, The Selecter lead the ska revival movement along with 2-tone label mates, The Specials and Madness.
Mixing punk, ska and reggae, their debut album ‘Too Much Pressure’ successfully reflected the social and political issues of the late 70s and early 80s in Britain and gave a voice to the disaffected youth across the racial divide.
2011 saw the return of this most vital and visceral ska act, reuniting the original singing duo, female icon of 2-tone era Pauline Black and the stylishly charismatic Gaps ‘De Killa’ Hendrickson, who assuredly deliver stunning performances of classic hits such as ‘On My Radio’ ‘3 Minute Hero’, Missing Words’ and ‘Too Much pressure’ alongside new buts from the latest album!
We are really happy to welcome one of the most iconic and important dance bands of the last 30 years to headline Burtfest 2012!
