Burtfest is a unique festival, designed not only as a great and entertaining weekend out for all the family but also as a community project that helps bring both trade and support to many aspects of the local community in Burton and the surrounding areas.
We achieve this in many ways, the festival is partly funded by sponsors who help us cover the cost of running the event, and obviously in return they get free advertisement and other perks! We also work closely with several charities and local community projects, all the money made from Burtfest goes back into the local community. We work with the local council and other organisations, and have set up a committee, who after the festival will decide where we will distribute the money made from the festival and what worthy causes will be supported by the festival. This means that the festival helps to make Burton and the surrounding area a better place and grow the community and festival together in the future. In 2011 we raised over £1000 for these causes. In 2012 we hope to blow that total out the water and raise several thousand if not tens of thousands of pounds for these worthy causes and help improve the local community and support it.
We will always work with the local music scene. We are proud of the bands in the Burton area and even though we will have some great and known headliners at Burtfest both the main stage and the other stages will be full of bands from Burton and the surrounding towns and cities. If your band are interested in playing next year’s festival, please contact us after June 31st when we will be taking 2013 applications. We also work closely with local promoters, such as Arch Creations who are running the 2nd stage (Arch stage) this year.
We always look to use companies who are based in and around Burton, all fencing, toilet hire, bars, catering and much more are sourced from local business and we hope to help them and increase their trade and the economy in the local community. We hope people from other towns and cities attend the festival too, helping to bring trade and tourism into the town.
Finally we encourage local people to come to the festival, Burton was the first place tickets went on sale and had the chance (which if you only just got a ticket you missed for 2012!) to buy stupidly cheap early bird tickets at the turing on of the Burton Xmas Lights in the town square back in December 2011. In future years we will continue to offer the Burton people deals for the festival.
